Warrak - new project

A new 2/3 bedroom house with large artist studio, located near the wine village of Warrak in North West Victoria, is currently entering the manufacturing stage. The house has been sited to capture the views of Mount Langhi Ghiran and the surrounding historic eucalypt vegetation. The ARKit building system will need to be adapted to suit the site high bush fire area status to ensure compliance to the Australian Standard AS3959 ‘Construction of Buildings in Bushfire Prone Areas’.

The arkit structural system relies on an integrated panel combining exterior cladding, insulation and interior lining. Each panel is manufactured using Western Red Cedar – a sustainably managed natural resource with exceptional beauty, built-in resistance to harsh environmental conditions, and inherent insulating properties. Each panel and window interlocks to form a rigid wall system.

And, unlike traditional buildings the arkit is economical in terms of cost and construction time – taking a fraction of the normal time to manufacture, deliver and erect.

The arkit is not a rigid system of rooms and modules – its system of flexible panels can be designed to create dwellings of any size or configuration. Of course, cc-ark has a range of designs to suit most situations and budgets, and you can work with our designers to create a unique architectural statement.

Designed by Architect Craig Chatman, and perfected in a series of prototypes, the arkit is ready for deployment as a home, beach shack, artist’s studio, retreat or workspace.
